Nowadays, all Internet browsers (or at least the most well-known and important ones) have the ability to offer their users the possibility of work with more than one web page, which are organized and distributed in different numbers of tabs.
This can be convenient and also a great disadvantage, which will depend on the type of work we do and the resources we have on our personal computer. Next we will analyze an interesting option that works in older versions of Mozilla Firefox and that right now, it is not present, all you have to do is try to adopt a little trick to have it active again in any version of this Internet browser.
Advantages and disadvantages of working with multiple tabs in Mozilla Firefox?
Since previous versions, Mozilla decided to implement this system of several tabs so that users have the possibility of having a different number of web pages in view; In this way, a user can have a single browser window with a large number of tabs to interact with each of them in a single moment. Mozilla is aware that this represents a large consumption of RAM memory, which is the reason why an interesting option that was shown until the Firefox 3.0 version is no longer present; Now, when you have several tabs open and close the browser you will see an option very similar to the following.

In this version of the Internet browser (in Firefox 3.0), if a user had several tabs open in the same Internet browser window and subsequently tried to close it with the "x" in the upper right corner, a pop-up window appeared where it was suggested to the user save (save) the information of each of these tabs. This was useful since it could later be opened to all of them, if we wanted to continue the work that we could have left pending with said information. Mozilla removed this functionality because I believe that a user did not need them and also because restoring to these tabs was consuming too much of the computer's RAM.
How to recover the option to "save tabs" in Firefox
There are those who even proposed a plugin or add-on for Firefox that could recover this feature. Right now there is an interesting option that you can use it without having to install applications or third-party tools, and must follow the following steps to achieve this objective:
- Open your Mozilla Firefox browser.
- In the URL space write:
about:config - Click accept, in the window that warns about the risks of making any type of modification in said area.
- In the space to search for filters and functions write:
browser.showQuitWarning
The searched option will immediately appear, which will have a default value of "False"; you just have to Double click on this option to change it to "True", leaving something very similar to the screenshot that we will post below.
Confirm the presence of feature activation
You don't need to do anything else, since the function will be activated from that moment; So that you can carry out a test and know if everything is perfectly configured, we recommend that you open the Mozilla Firefox browser again and a few additional tabs, where you can have any information you want. Now you just have to try close the internet browser window through the "X" on the upper right side.

At the top we have placed a screenshot of what you may be seeing at this moment, a window that is very different from the one shown previously. The option that will allow us save to tabs that are open and its respective information is now activated, so you can choose it so that it is registered and thus, it is reopened when you run Mozilla Firefox again.
If after having activated this feature you notice that Firefox consumes too much RAM (which in reality, this situation should not happen) then you can repeat the process to reverse it, that is, once you find the function that we recommended above and double-click it, it should change from "True" to "False."
