internet privacy
If at a certain time we have downloaded and saved a large amount of information to our hard drive, perhaps we should take into account different possibilities to reinforce the privacy of information that we have hosted on our team.
Let's simply assume that we download temporary images to our hard drive to later use them in some work at home or in the office; Because of those things in life we have gone out with our computer (the supposed case that it is a laptop) and along the way, it has been lost or someone has stolen it. The information there could be a little sensitive for other people to review. The solution would be to try to eliminate said information if it is temporary as we had previously suggested. In this article we will mention 2 alternatives that you could consider, when it comes to improving and reinforcing the information privacy of your team.

Privacy with anonymous Internet browsing

Following the proposed example with morality, all information that we come to reviewing with our Internet browser will be clearly and exclusively temporary. If this is the case, a good alternative is to try to perform private or anonymous browsing, a situation that is available in most browsers and where we would only need to perform the following task:

  • Open the Internet browser.
  • Open a browser window in anonymous mode.

If we talk about Mozilla Firefox, we find this option from the menu that is displayed in the upper left side, while in Google Chrome (previous image) we will have to look for it from the upper right corner. Everything we research on the Internet will remain anonymous and therefore, our privacy on these pages will be guaranteed. The only problem is when downloading images, sounds, documents or videos, since they will remain saved and hosted in the section of the hard drive where we have designated them.

Privacy with files downloaded from the Internet

To achieve this 2nd part that we are going to recommend, you should previously create a virtual disk on the computer, which relies on RAM memory; If you don't know how to do it, we recommend that you read the article on how to create a virtual hard drive with RAM. The only thing we have to do after having configured this virtual hard drive through our RAM memory is to direct the downloads to said space. Assuming that it has a drive letter "G:", the process to perform this operation would be as follows:

  • We open our Google Chrome Internet browser.
  • We click on the 3 horizontal lines on the upper right side and choose setting.

  • Then we click on the option «Show Advanced Options» located at the bottom of the configuration window.
  • We scroll down until we find the area of the «Downloads«.
  • We click on the button «Change» and we choose the unit «G:» which corresponds to our virtual hard drive.

We could do the same thing in Mozilla Firefox, although due to the different interface that this Internet browser has, the suggested procedure could be the following:

  • We click on the button «Firefox» located in the upper left.
  • We are heading towards «options->options«.
  • We stay in the «General«
  • In the area of "Downloads» we press the button «Browse«
  • We choose our virtual hard drive «G:» and click on to accept.

With these 2 procedures that we have mentioned for each of the Internet browsers, every time we download some type of file, the same sand will automatically save to the virtual hard drive which we have created with the help of RAM.
Once we turn off or restart our computer, all The data that we have saved in said virtual location will be automatically deleted, since they were temporarily housed in a space in our RAM memory.
In this way we have advised a viable way to be able work confidently with temporary files that we download from the Internet, which will be easily eliminated without the possibility of being recovered with no third party application, because they have been temporarily hosted on a virtual disk and not the physical world.
