Prepare your media library in Plex
Before you can watch your shows and movies on your TV, you first need to organize your media on your Plex server. This process is quite simple.
plex It has intelligent organization for your media. When you add a folder to your server, Plex will scan it to catalog all your movies, music, and photos. Then, categorize everything by media type, like Music, TV, Movies, etc.
- Download and install Plex on the device you will use as a server. This can be a PC, a NAS or even an Nvidia Shield TV.
- Launch the app and select “Create a new library.” Add your corresponding media folders.
Set up Plex on your TV
FOR set up Plex on your TV, you will need a device that can access the Plex app. Many Smart TVs come with a version of Plex pre-installed. However, if your TV doesn't have Plex, you can get it through a streaming device like Roku, Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Chromecast, and others.
- Launch the Plex app on your TV or streaming device.
- Sign in to your Plex account.
- Select "Link account." You will write down a four-character code.
Link your Plex account to your TV
After getting the code for your TV, you will need to go to the Plex TV Link in an Internet browser to enter that code.
- On a separate device, go to www.plex.tv/link in a web browser.
- Sign in to your Plex account.
- Enter the four-character code that appeared on your TV.
Navigating the Plex interface
Once you've linked your Plex account to your TV, you can start browsing your media library. By default, Plex groups your media into general categories: Music, Movies, TV, Photos.
Stream content on Plex
Streaming content on Plex is as simple as browsing your media library and selecting what to watch. When you click on a movie or TV episode, details and streaming options appear.
