What are your tips for beginners who want to start in the world of photography outdoors and extreme or adventure sports?

Find a sport that you are passionate about and learn all the nuances of that sport. Live, eat, sleep and breathe photography and push yourself to take better photos every day. I went to the small remote town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the USA, to stay there for a few quiet months, working on the construction of my book. You have to invest the time in yourself to then be able to offer your work to others in a more clear and effective way, learn how you relate to your work, to your livelihood. What are your strengths and weaknesses, and above all, how far you are able to go.

Do you have some easy tricks for producing impactful images?

He shoots early in the morning when the light is good and seems to ally himself with the great athletes. Use a fast shutter speed (1/3000 of a second or faster) to freeze water or snow in a photo. Additionally, shooting at slow shutter speeds (4, 5, 10 seconds) will make the water appear surreal.

What is your advice for staying safe at work?

Do a lot of research and know what hostile elements you may encounter and remember that everything will probably be wetter and colder than we assume. Always have a backup and carry something like a SPOT emergency beacon, just in case you get into a desperate situation.

What essential kit would you recommend for photography photographers? Sports beginners?

A good camera body, something like a Nikon D600 or Nikon D7100 and a couple of affordable prime lenses, something like a F2.8 24mm NIKKOR and a F1.8 50mm, and a zoom in the 70-200mm range. I also recommend that anyone who wants to seriously dedicate themselves to photography, you must have a good backup strategy. I recommend backing up all images at the workplace, to at least two external drives. I love the G-Tech G-DRIVE ev series for that as they are rugged, fast and have a plugin that works through from a USB. You never want to return home WITHOUT YOUR PHOTOS!

What characteristics does a photographer need to have? Sports?

A photographer from Sports You have to have a love for nature, an open heart and, above all, a good eye and imagination. Persistence is the key and the ability to take all types of photos in any type of adverse weather conditions with hardly any help.

Lastly, what is the best advice another healthcare professional has ever given you? photography de Sports?

Dream big and be prepared for success. You never know when it may come knocking on your door.
