Lately there has been a lot of talk about the arrival of new versions of Android 4.3. and 4.4. KitKat. However, not all devices that users use are chosen to carry these new versions.
Many terminals have been left out of this new update and although it may seem incredible, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Only if it is two years old it can no longer be updated automatically. With this we also launch that users think about when statements are made about the obsolescence of competing products. Apple keeps its compatible devices updated for up to 4 years.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S2 and other terminal models have the necessary technical characteristics to be able to run these versions of Android, however they have been left out, leaving their users perplexed by such a situation. Many users decide to update to a new terminal, something that today we are going to try to postpone at least until the new version of Android by showing you how to do it.
In this post we are going to help users who want to keep their terminal up to date without having to change it. For this, thanks to Cyanogen CustomROM we will be able to install Android 4.3. on the Galaxy S2.
For those who are not up to date with this world of software versions, indicate that the CyanogenMod team has been responsible for producing a custom CustomROM that is very good, and in the case of 4.3. for the Samsung Galaxy S2 even better if possible.
In order to obtain CM 10.2. (Android 4.3.) on our Galaxy S2 we could do it automatically using the CyanogenMod installer or manually.
Install Android 4.3. manually
Before taking any step, read carefully what it says and if you are not sure, do not carry it out, since you may damage the device.
- We download the system applications (GAPPS) and the CM 10.2.zip file to place them on the internal memory card. Please note that the link takes you to the i9100 files, so you will need to select your phone model from the list on the left.
- We make a backup copy of what we have on our mobile in case we want to have all our data saved. Next you will have to run ClockworkMod Recovery, making sure that you have a kernel suitable to carry out the process.
- We start in recovery mode (Recovery Mode) using the following combination: volume up + home + power button.
- We flash the CM 10.2 file and then the GAPPS.
- We proceed to carry out a factory reset and when it restarts we will have Android 4.3. running.
Install Android 4.3. with CyanogenMod Installer
In this type of installation you must keep in mind that the Galaxy S2 models that are recognized by the CM Installer There are many, but the ones that interest us are the international ones Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 (Intl) and Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100G (Intl).
To begin the process we follow the following steps:
- We install the CyanogenMod Installer on mobile from Play Store or from CyanogenMod. To do this you must also make sure that we have the option of "USB debugging" activated on our S2. Otherwise, in order to activate it we have to go to Settings, then "About device" and finally we click several times on the “build number”.
- When we have everything ready, we start the CM Installer and establish the connection mode. Subsequently we have to follow the steps that are indicated to be able to install the CM Installer's Companion Program in the computer.

- Once the previous step has been completed, reconnect the S2 to the PC when prompted and follow the steps again. When CM 10.2 is installed, you will be asked unlock bootloader, to which you must say "YES".
- The rest of the process is already controlled by the CM Installer. Keep in mind that the process is very slow and that you should not disconnect the phone under any circumstances.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not follow the steps carefully, your smartphone could be damaged.
The process erases all data on the phone.
