Vinegar Logo
Do you remember that article in which we processed a thumbnail image with Adobe Photoshop? The example we gave on that occasion is one of many that can be described with this interesting graphic design tool; In this article we will mention something similar as a work alternative, where we will try to redefine a font captured from a website.
For this tutorial article to make sense, we will take the Killer Vinegar logo as an example; with a series of sequential steps and also, using resources that we had already mentioned before, trying in a playful way, to describe the process to recover the typography using Adobe Photoshop.

Choosing our object of analysis with Adobe Photoshop

As we mentioned before, in this tutorial article we are going to use our own elements (as is customary in Vinagre Asesino); In order to achieve this, we just have to go to the website and capture with the Snipping tool, a process that we had also mentioned in a previous article.

After having made the capture, we will prepare to copy said logo from the same Clippings interface; To do this we could use "CTRL + C" or through the options menu of the same tool.

We then open Adobe Photoshop y we create a new project with «CTRL + N»; This step that we have carried out is very important, since the dimensions will be placed automatically because the logo that we captured previously is stored in our computer's memory, these being the dimensions that will be copied into the graphic design application.

We just have to close the window by clicking "Ok" and nothing more. After that, we will paste the logo that we had previously copied, this with the keyboard shortcut «CTRL + V».

We will be able to notice that the logo automatically fills the entire space of the project that we have created because the dimensions are the same. Now we open our panel to change the image size, placing a value of 1000 px towards the horizontal side.

We can notice that the edges of Vinagre Asesino's letters are pixelated, this being the first factor that we are going to correct at this time.

To do this we only have to go to the filter area, having to choose from all of them, the «Gaussian blur«.

The value we assign for the blur will depend on the user's good eye and judgment, and we must place a relatively low value so that the entire image is not lost.

Improving the image of our typography with Adobe Photoshop

What we did previously is the first step, where we have resized and subsequently applied a small filter so that the small peaks or tiers of a bad pixel on the edges are eliminated. If we take a small step back from our temporary work, we will be able to admire that The letters are not very visible due to the blurring granted.
For this reason, in the "Layers" field we must choose the one of our work; Later we will go to the menu bar at the top of the Adobe Photoshop interface, having to look for «Threshold» from the «New Adjustment Layer» option.

A small panel will be displayed, where we musts drag the small slider tab to the right or left depending on the effect we want to have; In our case, we have done it to the left, to reduce the value of this threshold.

Adobe Photoshop shows us a preview of what we are doing with this "threshold" option, so the user must define the moment at which the peaks have been completely lost.
As we have noticed, This “threshold” option has transformed our image into black and white; The user can save all the work in a simple image, which could later be imported into a web application that has OCR recognition capacity, so the "Killer Vinegar" graphic will be converted into text automatically, although you must Be careful with this last option, since the tool must be able to respect each line that is part of the typography design.
