We have written a few articles where the use of some tools when managing the different bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox; For example, if you want to back up these items you could use Browser Backup, which is completely free and will enable us to perform the tasks of creating or recovering these bookmarks.
Very rarely do you enter the internal configuration of Mozilla Firefox, since this work environment has to be used very well to prevent bad browser behavior; Of course, we had previously advised entering this environment to be able to uninstall, eliminate, return to the default state in the event that undesirable add-ons have been installed in Mozilla Firefox. Now we will mention a few internal commands that you can use when managing markers, all from its internal configuration.
Show Bookmarks Folder in Firefox
Primarily we will try to review, the way backup copies are generated within Firefox, this through the internal and native function of the browser; To do this, we suggest that you follow the following steps:
- Open Mozilla Firefox browser.
- Click on the Firefox button at the top left.
- From there we head towards the Custom and later towards the «Troubleshooting information«.

- From the new window that appears we will have to select «Show Folder«.

- Finally we must enter the «BookMarkBackups«.

With the steps that we have suggested we will be able to see a few files inside this folder that we have opened at the end; There are generally about 10 or 15 files present there, which correspond to the manual backup copies that the browser has made automatically.

This value is configured by default within the Firefox configuration, which we will try to vary according to our convenience and through a few steps that we will suggest below.
Go to Firefox's internal settings
If we consider that the number of backup copies made by Firefox is too large or small, then we should vary the default value, which is found in the internal configuration and which will now be the subject of our investigation:
- First of all we open our Mozilla Firefox browser.
- In the URL space we write: about: config
- A notification window will appear, to which we must respond that «We will be careful» using the present button.

The aforementioned steps are the initial ones to be able to enter the Mozilla Firefox settings; Once we have clicked on the button that we suggested above, a large number of commands will be displayed in the browser window through a list that, it would be very difficult for us to change some of them without full knowledge, so now we will mention a few that you can easily control, but to configure the browser according to your needs:
- browser.bookmarks.max_backups. If you type this entire command in the area that says "Search" you will find it. The default value of the backup copies that Firefox makes of our bookmarks is present there; We just have to double click on the number to change it to one that we want.
- browser. bookmarks. livemark_refresh_seconds. This command, on the other hand, will help us make Firefox check in a certain period of time if we have added new bookmarks to the bar; The default value is usually 60 seconds.
- browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML. This command will help us ensure that backups are stored in HTML format instead of JSON; If we want this, we must configure it to «True«.
Any variation we make will be recorded immediately, without having to look for a "save changes" button or anything like that.
In this way, you already have the possibility of make manual backups of the Mozilla Firefox browser, this using the parameters that we have mentioned and also, copying one or more files from the folder that houses them.
