Plex TV Article: How to Add Libraries
Plex TV is a remarkably effective multimedia platform, allowing users to organize their own digital content of videos, music, photos and stream them on various devices. However, to take full advantage of Plex TV's capabilities, it is essential to learn how to add libraries to it.
1. Before You Begin
Get ready to start by making sure you have everything you need. The most important thing is, of course, the Plex Media Server app installed on your computer or device. You will also need the content you want to add in digital format, organized in folders on your computer. It is recommended that each type of content (music, photos, movies) be in its own folder for better organization.
Additionally, you will need a Plex account. If you don't have it, you can create it for free on the official Plex website.
2. Plex Library Setup
The first step to adding a new library to Plex is to access the library configuration of the program. To do this, we will open the Plex Media Server application and click on the "+" icon next to "Libraries".
You will have to select what type of content you want to add: movies, TV series, music, photos or home videos.
3. Add Content to the Library
After you have configured the content type, Plex will take you to a new dialog box where you can name the new library and add folders to it. By clicking “Browse for Media Folder” You will be able to browse and select the respective folders on your computer that you want to add to the library.
- Library Name: This is the name that the new library will be listed under in Plex.
- Language: Select the original language of the content.
- Folders to add: This is the place where you must select the folder on your computer where the content is located.
4. Advanced Settings
There are advanced options that you can configure while adding the library. However, these are not usually necessary for most users and by default they are configured in the best possible way for each type of library. Otherwise, and if you understand well what you are doing, you can choose options such as generating video previews, grouping collections, etc.
5. Finish Library Creation
Finally, after having followed all the previous steps, all that remains is to click on «Add Library» to finish creating the library. Once created, Plex will begin scanning the contents of the selected folder and begin adding it to your server. The time it will take will depend on the amount of content.
