More than one has been luckier than expected in recent times and left a brand new Mac under the tree, whether it be a laptop or desktop. After the initial emotional impact, you set out to make the most of it.
We are going to present you ten essential applications so that you can take advantage of all the virtues of the OSX system. You will see that once you master these applications, your life with the new Mac will change.
The first feeling when you get to the apple system is hysteria, since you want to do the same thing you do in Windows quickly and, from my own experience, it takes a while to have everything clear. To save you the shock of changing from PC to Mac, we present a series of essential applications so that the change is not so traumatic.
Let's see the applications that we propose for this:
- uTorrent: Torrent file download client, very light and simple that will allow you to download torrent files.
- ClipMenu: It is an application that allows you to make a cmd+c, cmd+x and cmd+v (if you come from PC remember that the ctrl is replaced in almost all shortcuts of all applications by the cmd).
- Unarchiver: Application that allows you to decompress any type of compressed file. Is free.
- AppZapper: When deleting applications from your Mac, if you don't want any traces left behind, you should use an application to do so. New users tend to send the app icon to the trash, but are you sure that all the configuration files that the app has copied to your machine have been deleted by this action? For that we have AppZapper, an uninstaller that completely cleans the trace of the app. It should be noted that it is paid, so we recommend an equivalent and free one, which is AppCleaner.
- FreeOffice: Mac OSX has a text editor, spreadsheets and presentations. These are Pages, Numbers and Keynotes. If you go to the Mac App Store you will see that these programs are now free for people who buy a new Mac. However, there are versions for Mac such as Open Office and Libre Office. If you opt for this last option, you will have to download the language extension so that we have the menus in Spanish.
- CleanMyMac2: Application that allows us to eliminate all unnecessary content from our hard drive. In a first sweep, you can free up a large amount of space by simply deleting unused languages from the operating system. It also acts as an application uninstaller (like appZapper) and schedules deletions from the trash. It is paid.
- VLC: Video player that supports almost all formats, since Apple's Quicktime does not play .avi videos very well.
- MPlayer: Free video player in the Mac App Store that also allows us to play any type of video file.
- SmartConverter: Application to be able to convert files to other types of formats. Very fast and simple.
- Memory Clean: Free manager for your Mac's RAM.
As you can see, with these applications in addition to Apple's own, which are iPhoto to be able to have the photos organized and synchronized on all your devices, iMovie which will allow you to make your video montages in a very simple way and directly compatible with iDevices and the suite of iWork as an office suite with which you will be able to have your documents synchronized with the cloud iCloud, you have to be able to start and in a more than acceptable way to master your Mac.
It should be noted that there is a Mac version of the Microsoft office suite, so if you want to work with full compatibility between your Mac and your work PC, for example, you just have to buy a copy of it.
