CP1: Capture multiple colors in Windows and export them in HTML

Last update: April 14, 2020

CP1
On different occasions we have recommended a few tools and applications that we could be using to capture a color and even to generate some type of palette that we could possibly use in our professional graphic design tool.
Many people usually try to find this type of resources, since the color palette can be the basis for creating new art in this type of tools. But the opposite case can also occur, that is, if we can see a specific color on our personal computer (in a photograph or on certain websites), we could capture it if we believe that it will be useful to us. the next art we are going to make with our graphic design application. Right now we have come across an interesting portable tool called «CP1«, which can help us perform said color capture but with even more interesting additional options.

Downloading, installing and running CP1 on Windows

Although we previously suggested downloading this application in its portable version, within the official website also you will find a version to install of CP1; The one you choose will depend on what you are going to do in your daily work, because if this is possible it would be better for you to use the portable version. If your work requires more persistent color capture, then you can install the Windows version so you always have it on hand.

After having made this small consideration, we recommend that you run "CP1" with administrator permissions (although it is not necessarily mandatory). The tool's interface is practically free of a large number of options and functions to use, since here we will only be interested in capture (capture) colors from any palette we encounter. At the top (as the cover photo) we have placed a small screenshot of what this tool can do. The icons shown there (at the top as a band of options) will help you easily work with the colors to capture and with those that you may have already captured previously; Some of them we could define as follows:

  • The icon shaped like dropper will help us make the selection (capture) a new color. To do this, we only have to select said icon and then move the mouse pointer to the color we need to capture, which will be done with a small click with the left mouse button.
  • The second and third icon (with a circular shape) will help us to expand or reduce the color range that can exist between two different captures, something that is generally used by specialized graphic designers.
  • The third icon (shaped like a clock), however, will help us review all capture history that we have done. With this option we will have the possibility of rescuing a color that we may have captured at the beginning of the work and that may not appear in the final results.

Share captured color with CP1

As you can admire, the use of this tool CP1 does not imply any type of exhaustive or complicated work, Well, we only need to capture the color and then begin to analyze which of all of them is the one that interests us for the project we are carrying out at that moment. Now, towards the right side of the interface of this tool you will be able to notice the presence of a hamburger icon (three horizontal lines), which you can select to display a few additional options.

They will help you export the entire captured color palette to an HTML format, although you could also perform a selective export. In addition to this, at the top of this same area there are a few icons, which will help you quickly share a color code with any of the friends you have added to your social network, mainly Facebook or Twitter. In conclusion, this tool called CP1 can be of great help when we need to capture a color and also when we want to work in a group and long distance with some friends.
